Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state has taken a swipe at his predecessor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, saying he is behaving with impunity.
Obaseki said the national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is supposed to inform the Edo government of any of his visit as courtesy demands, The Nation reports.
The ruling party chairman attended the funeral ceremony of late Cecilia Agbonyinma, mother of Hon Ehiozuwa Agbonyinma, in Benin City at the weekend.
There was heavy security presence at the Benin airport, barring some youths from getting close to Oshiomhole’s convoy.
However, this did not stop the APC youths from booing him. According to report, the youths pelted his convoy with empty water can. It was gathered that the road leading to Oshiomhole’s residence was barricaded to prevent any political meetings from holding at his residence.
Reacting to the incident at the airport while playing host to former president Goodluck Jonathan, Obaseki told newsmen that Oshiomhole did not inform the state government about his visit.
He described as “sad” the situation where someone who has been a governor does not know that courtesy demands he inform the governor or the governor apparatus of his visit.
“It is really sad and unfortunate that people who have served, who should know better decided to behave the way they do or behave with impunity and other sense of lawlessness,” he stated.
