After being denied food, a photographer admitted on social media that they deleted photos of newlyweds.
Redditors weighed in on whether the photographer made the right decision, and the responses were mixed.
A Redditor agrees to cover a wedding in photos.
“I’m not really a photographer, I’m a dog groomer,” the photographer confessed on Reddit, sharing their story. It’s “my thing” to post lots of photos of dogs on Facebook and Instagram, so that’s what I do.
“To save money, a friend recently got married and asked if I’d photograph it for them.”
The couple was on a tight budget, but they agreed to have the day documented for $250, according to the Reddit user.
However, later in the day, events took a tragic turn, and the photographer was forced to delete the wedding photos…
What was going through the photographer’s mind when she decided to delete the wedding photos?
This is what the Redditor recalled: “I started at 11am and was scheduled to finish at 7:30pm. I was told around 5 p.m. that I was not allowed to stop and eat because I was required to be a photographer; in fact, no table was reserved for me.
The exhaustion is setting in, and I’m beginning to regret doing this for nothing. Because the event is taking place in a former veteran’s legion, the temperature is hovering around 110 degrees Fahrenheit with no air conditioning.
“He tells me I need to be photographer, or leave without pay,” the photographer said of the groom’s ultimatum.
And as a result, the former dog groomer turned professional photographer purged his hard drive of all the wedding photos and fled!
Redditors react to a wedding story posted on the platform
What did I do wrong? “, he pondered on Reddit. Even though they’ve all been off of social media for their honeymoon, many people have left comments on their wall asking about wedding photos to no avail.
The user’s story sparked a lot of discussion, as one might expect.
“These aren’t “friends,” these are leaches,” one person wrote.
Another person said: ‘Duuude…'” Even wedding photographers who charge $X,000 for their services are given time to relax and eat dinner during the reception/cocktail hour. It’s absurd to expect someone to work for ten hours straight without a break, food, or water. NTA.”
“Was what you did shi**y and petty?” someone else countered with. Absolutely. To be safe, avoid making major decisions when you’re depressed or hungry. These “friends” of yours, on the other hand, were deplorable. The bridesmaids were frugal as can be, and the groom was a complete groomzilla. What they did to you is unacceptable.
As someone else put it: “he treated you horribly and had high expectations for nothing in return. Unfortunate as it may be, I hope you’re ready to lose not only that ‘friendship,’ but possibly some other mutual friends as well. You ended up deleting images that they will never be able to recover…unless you can somehow retrieve them.”
I’m curious what everyone has to say.
