By selling her artist share of the music rights, Tina Turner has made a huge financial investment in BMG, who can now utilize Tina Turner’s name, image, and music for a wide range of purposes.
In a sweet statement about the superstar’s legendary career, company CEO Hartwig Masuch confirmed the news to Rolling Stone on Tuesday.
As for Tina’s work: “We all know how iconic Tina’s work is,” German music executive, 67, told the publication. There is a lot of untapped potential with Tina’s legacy when you consider the different dimensions her career has taken in the last few years between musicals and documentaries.
As part of the agreement, BMG acquired Turner’s recordings, “as well as publishing rights, neighboring rights and her name, image and likeness.'” Turner
The protection of one’s life’s work, one’s musical inheritance, is something personal for Turner as he spoke about the news.
I am confident that my work is in professional and reliable hands with BMG and Warner Music,” the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll said.
As one half of the Ike & Tina Turner duo, the mother-of-four rose to fame. She then became a successful solo artist with 20 singles on the Billboard Hot 100.
The 2021 documentary Tina, which followed her life and career, premiered earlier this year.
Even after they separated, interviewers insisted on asking her about their partnership, she says in the documentary. As a result, she decided to come forward about her years of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse by Ike.
People were still talking about Ike and Tina after all her success, she recalled.
