The clash between okada riders and police officers in Iyana Ipaja has allegedly led to the death of a schoolgirl, as she was said to have been hit by a stray bullet.
As we earlier reported, there is an ongoing riot in the Iyana-Ipaja area of Lagos State as officers of the Nigeria Police Force and Okada riders engaged each other in a face-off.
The police are firing life bullets to disperse the commercial motorcycle operators, who are insisting on resuming operations on the road despite a ban on their activities by the Lagos State Government, Sahara Reporters reports.
In a video shared online, a schoolgirl clad in her school uniform can be seen lying motionless on the floor. Blood soaked through her school uniform and concerned people tried to tie a cloth around her to stem the blood flow.
There was a commotion around her as people screamed in distress as they tried unsuccessfully to offer whatever comfort they could to the dying girl.
