Atletico Madrid star Suarez aims dig at Barcelona after winning La Liga title

Luis Suarez helped Atletico Madrid win La Liga title following their final day win against Real Valladolid and the Uruguayan striker has aimed at dig at his former club Barcelona, Mirror.

The 33-year-old was in tears as he granted a post-match interview where he expressed rejection following his sale from the Camp Nou outfit.

He said:

“Barca didn’t value me and Atletico opened their doors for me. I will always be grateful to this club for trusting in me.”

After the interview, Suarez was still emotional as he sat on the pitch and made a video call to his family.

The former Liverpool striker scored the winner in the second half after Angel Correa brought Atletico back on level terms.

A mistake from the Valladolid defence saw the Suarez paced from the half way to line to the other end and finished his move with ease.

Suarez scored 198 goals in just 283 games during his six -year spell at Barcelona and won La Liga titles as the well as the Champions League.

He was sold to Atletico just £4.3million after Ronald Koeman revealed the Uruguayan will not be part of his plans.

The likes of Ivan Rakitic also joined former club Sevilla and Arturo Vidal reunited with Antonio Conte at Inter Milan as they ended Juventus nine-year dominance in style.
