The head of the National Examination Council Godswill Obioma has been assassinated by some unknown gunmen in his residence on Monday night.
According to his wife, Professor Godswill Obioma was strangled to death in the night by some unknown men. There have been series of death reports in Nigeria. Some important personalities have been reported dead in the space of 24 hours by some unknown gunmen.
Speaking to the wife of the professor, she said, “The assassins came in and killed him and left without taking anything,” Elizabeth Obioma told Peoples Gazette by telephone on Tuesday morning.
Still speaking to Peoples Gazette, the weeping wife, Mrs Obioma said her husband had just returned to Minna from a trip to Abuja when the armed men, lurking in his compound, descended on him and strangled him to death.
According to Professor’s wife, her husband, Mr. Obioma was facing attempts of removal from office as the head of NECO, a prominent examination body run by the Nigerian government before his death.
The death of the 67 year old man follows a few hours after Ahmed Gulak, a top politician of the ruling APC, was gunned down in Owerri.
