Brooke Baldwin bid her goodbye to CNN after being on the network for 13 years. Here’s a look at why did Brooke leave CNN.
On April 16, Brooke said goodbye to the viewers as she ended her last broadcast for the network. Several people took to social media to express their thoughts on Brooke’s departure. Meanwhile, Brooke shed some light on what she had planned next.
Why did Brooke Baldwin leave CNN?
Brooke decided to leave CNN as a career move. The broadcast journalist had been a part of the network for 13 years and decided to make a new career move after years. She had confirmed her exit on February 16.
In a series of tweets, Brooke revealed how tough the decision was for her. She said: “I want to start with some personal news. I will be leaving @CNN in April. I came to this network as a freelancer in 2008. I scribbled my name on a post-it and stuck it outside a temporary office determined to fulfill my dream of becoming a full-time correspondent at CNN.”
She continued: “I wanted to be part of the best of the best in cable news and journalism and as a native Atlantan, this would be my hometown team. Little did I know… I would not only go on to fulfill that dream, I’d flourish in this environment and land my own two hour show at the age of 31.”
Brooke also thanked her fans and followers for always supporting her. She wrote: “You have been here with me every step of the way — never more so than when I was incredibly sick with COVID last year. I am grateful for your loyalty and passion for the world we cover. And so grateful to my show team, to Jeff Zucker, to my very large CNN family and to you.”
What is Brooke Baldwin going to do now?
As of now, Brooke has not revealed if she will be joining another network. However, she did talk about her upcoming book ‘Huddle: How Women Unlock Their Collective Power.’
In a tweet she wrote: “This next life chapter will focus on what I love the most about my work: amplifying the lives of extraordinary Americans and putting my passion for storytelling to good use. For the last two years I’ve been working on my book #Huddle: How Women Unlock Their Collective Power.”
On March 12, Brooke also appeared on Ellen DeGeneres’ show and joked: “It was obviously a huge, huge decision. I put a lot of thought into it, but here’s what I didn’t put a lot of thought into: what I’m actually going to do next.”
