In an interview with Chude Jideonwo, Princess Damilola Adekoya revealed that she was saddened after her marriage to her estranged husband, Adeshola Jeremiah, fell apart.
However, her friend, Funke Akindele, comforted her in a way she never expected since she was prepared and offered to help her forget about her worries as she went weak emotionally, psychologically, and physically as she cried uncontrollably.
“Funke,” she said. Akindele contacted me and said, “Princess Kilonshele, I heard you almost sobbed yourself to death,” which I’m sure she’ll remember. I’m telling you, Chude, I sobbed, I got sick, and I lost weight. I told her in Yoruba that “ah Funke” meant “my life is over.”
“She asked why will you say that, and I said that you can’t see what happened to my marriage, and she replied that you didn’t hear what happened to mine.” I told Funke that your situation is different from mine; at the very least, you lived at your husband’s house for a year. And she asked, “Princess, what are you talking about?” I said ah I don’t think I’ll be able to come, she said ah what are you doing, I said I’m washing, she said kilonfo, I said I’m just washing, she said where are you going, I’m not going anywhere, I was in that house wearing only one clothe. Princess mi o comprehend, she said. Please let me pay for your flight, and come see me in Enugu, where I’ll be shooting, and we’ll chat.
“Then I heard somebody say, ‘Funke, we’re ready,’ so she answered, ‘Princess shey o Na wa?’ ‘Please contact me.’
“I didn’t call her.”
