At Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival on Friday, eight people were killed and hundreds were injured in a stampede (November 5th).
On the first night of the event, which takes place every year in Houston’s NRG Park, Travis was performing on his Utopia Mountain stage.
What exactly does “crowd surge” signify, according to the reports? Let’s get to the bottom of this matter and find out exactly what happened.
WHAT IS A CROWD SURGE?
When a huge number of individuals rush quickly and suddenly together, it’s called a “crowd surge.”
When a frantic rush of humans or animals suddenly breaks out, it is very much like a stampede.
When there are big crowds, such as during concerts or athletic events, crowd surges can develop.

ASTROWORLD WAS THE SCENE WHERE…
During Travis Scott’s Astroworld show at roughly 21:15, a surge in the audience resulted in eight deaths and 300 injuries.
It was Houston fire chief Samuel Pena who stated, “The crowd began to crush towards the front of the stage, and that generated some fear, and it started causing some injuries.”
As a result, “people began to fall out, get unconscious, and it caused extra panic,” he said.
Following the unfortunate catastrophe, the second day of the Astroworld concert has been canceled.
EIGHT KILLED AND HUNDREDS MORE INJURED
There were several deaths and injuries during the event that were detailed by the fire chief in a statement.
There have been a total of at least eight confirmed deaths tonight… and “scores of people were harmed at this event,” he said.
There were 17 people evacuated to local hospitals, 11 of them were in cardiac arrest, according to the official report.
People with more minor injuries were also treated at NRG Park’s hospital.
