Remember that Davido arrived in Ghana a few days ago to a rousing welcome from his Ghanaian fans who flocked to the airport to see him.
He is going about his daily routine in Accra, having to rely on a motorbike, sometimes known as an Okada, to transport him and his staff around. It’s unclear if Davido was just catching a cruise or if he took the okada owing to Accra’s awful traffic.
He published videos of himself and his crew riding motorcycles on his Instagram stories.
Meanwhile, Wizkid’s Essence was not nominated for a Grammy in the Record of the Year category, and the Grammy Academy has explained why.
In a recent interview with Billboard, Harvey Mason, the Grammy CEO, was questioned why Essence was not considered for a Record of the Year award.
The Grammy nominees are decided purely by the voting members of the Grammy committee, with no involvement from the review committee, for the first time in 27 years.
Wizkid was nominated for two Grammys, for Best Global Music Album and Best Global Music Performance, and the CEO was asked if he was confident in the voting committee’s ability to deliver without oversight.
According to the Grammy’s CEO,
I wasn’t frightened in the least. I felt like we’d accomplished a lot with our membership. We’ve done a lot of outreach to various communities that we believed were underrepresented among our voting membership…. As a result, I thought the timing was ideal for our membership to be able to vote directly on the nominees. That’s why, at the time, we felt comfortable abolishing the nominations review committees.
