Christian musical group The Bowling Family have addressed a life change on Facebook, albeit rather cryptically. So, did Mike and Kelly Bowling break up?
The Bowling Family have a large fan following, who know and love them as a family unit, but a recent Facebook post has caused questions around their future.
For years the group have been a huge part of the Christian gospel community. In 2010, Kelly, Mike, and one of their daughters were left fighting for their lives following a bus accident.
The Bowling Family’s Facebook post
Yesterday, April 14th, The Bowling Family’s official Facebook account shared the news that Kelly and their daughters are moving out of the house.
“The girls and I recently had to move. Usually a move is an exciting time, a time of change that’s significant for a family. Maybe it’s a bigger house you need, or you’re moving to the country, or possibly something nicer and newer.Ours was none of those reasons,” they began.
“I moved my girls from the home they had grown up in. I had to, they wanted to, but when the time came it wasn’t easy. They cried, and so did I. It felt like a punch in the gut. The circumstances weren’t happy, and the move came in the middle of such a busy time, it’s nearly crushed us. If not for family and friends, we wouldn’t have made it. The emotional roller coaster ride of change is starting to feel like normal, and I know it isn’t normal. We need to arrive in a season that feels calm, we need to find a place of peace. “
The post then goes on to describe the blue house they are moving into and the religious significance of the colour.
However, some fans were left with questions over why they were moving out, and why Mike wasn’t.
Did Mike and Kelly Bowling split up?
Although Kelly didn’t confirm it in the original post, Mike and Kelly Bowling did split up.
Kelly’s mother, Kathy Crabb Hannah, explained what happened in a comment on the post, writing: “The best thing to do is to allow people to see a little glimpse of hurt, it’s the reality, because that is life. Mike is gone, they are getting divorced. It caught Kelly by surprise.”
She added: “They are crushed. But for too long…..ministries have covered up, pretended, and hidden their scars. That’s not how we live our lives. This is the greatest storm of Kelly’s life, and actually the greatest storm of mine too. The girls are in need of prayer daily. Truth will bring concern, which will trigger prayer.”
“I pray that this answer is sufficient. It’s all I will say publicly. God is able to sustain them. I ask that you pray, pray like it’s your kids, your family. I appreciate it.”
While the future of the group has not been confirmed, The Bowling Family’s official site no longer includes Mike as a member: “Kelly, her daughter Hope who is 21, Katelanne, who is 17, and Gracie, who is 14,” reads the description.
