The latest social media challenge asks you to go to the Instagram profile @pgatalal and click on their highlight, but what happens if you do?
A new type of trend is popular on social media right now that asks you to do something and find out what happens.
Some popular ones ask you to Google something, like ‘why were chainsaws invented?‘ or ‘what is the 25th island of Greece?‘, and they usually result in a funny or strange answer.
The latest trend asks you to visit a specific Instagram profile and click on one of their highlights, but why? Here’s what happens.
Instagram Challenge asks users to click on @pgtalal’s highlight
If you’ve been on Twitter recently, you may have seen a few posts asking you to find the Instagram user @pgtalal and click on their first highlight.
One person wrote: “You guys should check @pgtalal’s highlights on Instagram.”
“Search @pgtalal on Instagram and press the first highlight and tell me what happens,” wrote another.
A third person tweeted: “Type up pgtalal on Instagram and look at the highlights.”
So, what happens when you do?
The challenge is a trick
If you search @pgtalal on Instagram, you will come across a random profile that has 23,000 followers.
Then, if you click on the first Story highlight on the profile, your phone will crash and completely freeze.
The trend is going viral on social media to trick everyone into freezing their phone, and it’s certainly working.
How do you fix it?
So, you’ve searched @pgtalal on Instagram, clicked on the first highlight and now you’re panicking because your phone is frozen.
Don’t worry, all you need to do is reboot it and your phone will be back to normal.
On an iPhone, you need to press and quickly release the volume up button, then press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the sleep/wake button.
Then, when the Apple logo appears, release the button and your phone will reboot.
