Fritz Wetherbee Career
He was the news director and general manager of WSCV and WSLE-FM radio stations in Peterborough for 10 years (1975–84). He was the host of New Hampshire Crossroads on Public Television from 1985 to 1995. On New Hampshire Chronicle he has his own section.
From 1958-1960, he served in the U.S. Army Special Services, placing third in the 1959-1960 All-Army Entertainment Contest of 44,000 acts, and appeared with other troops on the 1959-1960 Ed Sullivan Show. From 1962-1968 he worked for the Monadnock Ledger as a reporter and photographer.
His media career started in 1963 as Nathaniel Hawthorn College Theater Production Instructor, and later in 1980 and 1984, he taught Media at Keene State College Media Instructor. From 1969-1975 he worked at New Hampshire PTV as a filmmaker and cinematographer.
He was the general manager and news director at WSLE-WSCV radio from 1976-1984, also serving on All Things Considered as a contributing reporter. From 1986 to 1994 he was a reporter for the Ten O’clock News, WGBH-TV, and in 1990 he was a Chronicle Contributing Talent for WCVB-TV.
From 1986 to 2000 he was the host, producer, writer, and editor of the New Hampshire-Crossroads New Hampshire PTV and a storyteller/historian on WMUR TV, 2000–present. He was Creative Director of Petteway and Partners Advertising from 1984 to 1986.
Fritz has covered New Hampshire for more than half a century. He has written for newspapers and magazines, done radio commentary and reports, and made films and television shows about his home state. Few people know more about the Granite State. And besides, he is good at what he does. Fritz has been honored with three Emmy Awards.
Last year he was given the gold for Outstanding Achievement as On-Camera Talent in the whole of New England for his work on New Hampshire Chronicle.
