Malcolm X and Betty Shabazz’s second child, Qubilah Bahiyah Shabazz, was born on December 25, 1960. She was present when three assassins shot and killed her father in 1965. Accused of plotting to assassinate Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, who she believed was responsible for her father’s assassination, she was arrested in 1995. Her innocence has been upheld at all times. Rather than going to prison, she agreed to a plea deal that required her to undergo psychological counseling and treatment for drug and alcohol abuse.
Malcolm X, Jamila’s father, is one of the Muslim ministers in the United States. He is also a human rights activist. He is also known for his talent for spreading black propaganda.
Thanks to the Netflix documentary “Who Killed Malcolm X”, Jamila is in focus.
Early years
His birth date is 60 years old. He is originally from Brooklyn, New York. In honor of Kublai Khan, her father chose that name for her. Her godfather was Gordon Parks, a renowned photographer and filmmaker.
The family’s home had been set on fire, and Qubilah’s screams woke her parents up in the middle of the night in February 1965.
She witnessed her father’s assassination a week later, along with her mother and sisters.
“Farm and Wilderness” is the name of the summer camp Qubilah Shabazz attended as a child in Vermont. She left Islam at the age of 11 and became a Quaker. The Jack and Jill Club, a group for the children of wealthy African-Americans, was a favorite hangout for her and her two sisters. United Nations International School in Manhattan was Shabazz’s high school of choice in his early teen years.
However, as a young woman, she struggled to fit in at Princeton University, where she thought the white students avoided her and the African-American students resented her apparent lack of interest in their campaign to force the university to divest its investments in South Africa. For the next two years, she attended the Sorbonne in Paris and worked as a translator. In 1984, while in Paris, she met an Algerian man named Malcolm, with whom she had a son. After a few months, they broke up.
Qubilah Shabazz moved to Los Angeles with Malcolm when he was just a few months old. While in New York City in 1986, they lived in a series of squalid apartments in the city’s most dangerous areas. In order to make ends meet, Shabazz worked as a waitress, a telemarketer, and a proofreader for a law firm while also selling advertising for a directory. Shabazz’s mother and sisters were frequently called upon to care for Malcolm while Shabazz went out with friends.
