After a story from Forbes concerning Google Chrome’s privacy settings and possible nefarious motives, users have expressed worry.
Others have decided to get rid of the app in light of recent events and are curious about how to do so.
USERS URGED TO CHECK CHROME SETTINGS
In light of worries that websites may access sensitive data without users’ permission, consumers have been reminded to verify their Google Chrome’s privacy settings, according to Forbes.
“The motion sensor is accessible to all websites in Android/Chrome by default, [whereas] Safari/iOS protects access by a permission,” Twitter user and researcher Tommy Mysk wrote on Twitter.
In the last month, Google notified its 2.6 billion users of “high”-rated vulnerabilities.
Amid the reports about the latest security issues, a Google spokesperson told The Sun: “We intentionally limit the resolution of motion sensors in Chrome, and since 2019 we’ve had controls that allow users to block websites from accessing a device’s motion sensors altogether.
“We take user security and privacy seriously, and we’re always working on new ways to improve security and privacy in Chrome.”
