A Texas lawyer is the talk of the internet after he accidentally applied a cat filter during a virtual Zoom court hearing. The video has gone viral online, and it’s had everyone in stitches.
As well as providing a lot of laughs, the blunder has also made people aware of Zoom filters, and until the video surfaced, many internet users didn’t actually know that you could apply filters on the app.
If you want to apply the cat filter on one of your Zoom meetings and recreate the iconic video, here’s how to do it…
How to download the Zoom Cat Filter
- First, you need to download the free Snap Camera app. It’s available for both Windows and Mac and will let you apply filters whilst you’re on a Zoom call.
- Open the app and you will find loads of different filters. In the search bar, type ‘cat’ or ‘kitten’ and choose the filter that you want to use.
- Then, open the Zoom app and press Settings > Video > Camera. Then, press Snap Camera.
- Now, the filter should be applied to your face when you join or start a Zoom call.
Texas Lawyer’s Zoom cat filter mishap goes viral
Rod Ponton, an attorney from Texas has become an internet sensation after he accidentally applied a cat filter during a virtual court hearing for the 394th District court in Brewster County.
In the video which has been viewed by millions of internet users, Rod appears on a Zoom call with a grey kitten filter that mimics his movements, blinking when he blinks and speaking when he speaks.
Thankfully, his colleagues found the blunder quite hilarious and the judge was very understanding about the situation.
“Mr. Ponton I believe you have a filter turned on in the video settings,” Judge Roy B. Ferguson told Rod before he replied: “Ahhh. Can you hear me judge?”
The judge could hear him, but his voice had been altered to make him sound more high-pitched and cat-like.
“I can hear you, I think it’s a filter,” the judge said before Rod replied: “It is and I don’t know how to remove it.”
Rod then insisted that they continue the court hearing despite the cat mishap, revealing that his assistant was trying to remove it. “I’m prepared to go forward with it. I’m here live. I’m not a cat,” he said.
After confirming to the judge that he is in fact not a cat, Roy replied “I can see that,” and promptly gave him instructions on how to remove the filter.
