Without mincing words, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has stated that he would lock Aso Rock if bandits ever kidnap his child.
The popular Islamic cleric made this assertion during an interview with BBC Pidgin on Friday. During the interview, Gumi repeated his idea that the ransom on the captured students needed to be paid.
Remember that in a recent interview on Wednesday, the famous cleric called on the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to pay the N100 million requested by the kidnappers of Greenfield University students.
He reiterated his view that the Federal Government has to make a very decisive decision of choosing between the lives of the students or making a ransom payment of N100 million.
“Life versus material; that is how you will look at it. It is the absolute responsibility of the government to protect lives. Now we have lives or N100 million at stake and these lives of 17 innocent young children,”
“I can’t imagine if my child is there. I can never keep quiet. I will go and lock Aso Rock, if my child is there. They are my children too.
“What is N100 million? So, what I’m saying is, free these children then the field is open for you to whatever action you have. It is between bandits and N100 million. I do not want the struggle between bandits and lives.
“This is just simple logic. It does not require any rocket science. How can you play with lives? You can play with your money, but you can’t play with peoples’ lives. They just went there to study.”
In recent news, Gumi disclosed that his talk of negotiation with the Boko Haram has borne some positive results as they have lowered their bar and have promised not to kill any abducted person.
The bandits initially threatened to kill the abducted students if their ransom of N100 million Naira is not met. According to Gumi, he has spoken with the bandits and they have decided not to kill anybody.
