A recent poll suggested 46% of Texans would vote for Matthew McConaughey if he ran for governor. Here’s a look at his political party as some wonder if he is a democrat or a Trump supporter.
There has always been a discussion about celebrities entering politics, and it looks like Matthew has a fair chance of winning in Texas. Over the years, Matthew has made a mark for himself in the Hollywood industry, and it seems to have helped him win over people.
What is Matthew McConaughey’s political party affiliation?
Many people have been wondering if Matthew is a democrat or a republican. This comes after it was reported 46% of Texas would vote for him if he were to run for governor. Unfortunately, Matthew has never opened up about his political stance.
Over the years, the actor has given mixed signals about his political views. In 2020, Matthew had commented on US politics in an interview. The actor criticized both left and right-wing parties.
He said: “There are a lot (of people) on that illiberal left that absolutely condescend, patronize, and are arrogant towards that other 50 percent. Many people, I’m sure you saw it, in our industry when Trump was voted in four years ago, they were in denial that it was real. Some of them were in absolute denial.”
Following this, Matthew also criticized the right-wing after Trump’s loss as he said: “Now you’ve got the right that’s in denial because their side has fake news. And I understand, they’ve been fed fake news. No one knows what the hell to believe, right? So they’re putting down their last bastion of defense.”

This is not the first time the actor has hinted at entering politics. In a November 2020 interview, Matthew said: “It would be up to the people more than it would me.”
