Celebrated actor Will Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett has for a long time now hosted a show dubbed Red Table Talk (RTT) that tackles societal issues, especially concerning women.
However, the last few episodes of the show have come under criticism for allegedly being turned into a platform for misogynistic men to have their say.
Wothappen.com came across a Twitter post in which a user called Nila Jakali, @Notlaja, started the conversation which many seemed to agree with her.
“Red table talk shifting from being a platform by women for women across generations, to one that coddles male celebrities and perpetuates harmful rhetoric. (This) is truly a level of irony you can only laugh at,” she wrote.
There was also an article on Fabulize Magazine by Erika, who noted the show had begun on the right foot by empowering women and talking about their issues but then suddenly changed.
She mentioned guests such as rapper T.I who basically embarrassed his daughter with a conversation about her sexuality.
“He claims it was a joke, however his daughter was not laughing and she started getting harassed online by strange men who proclaimed they wanted to break her virginity. She ended up disabling all her social media and her father was being dragged on social media but unfortunately, some people still defended him. When he appeared on RTT with his wife Tiny Harris, the rapper thesaurus claimed he had no idea what the word patriarchy and misogyny were,” an excerpt from the article read.
