One of Nigeria’s most talented comic characters, John Ikechukwu Okafor popularly known as Mr. Ibu, has been active in the Nigeria acting scene since 1998 as continuity.
Mr. Okafor hails from Nkanu West L.G., Enugu State. He had his elementary school, in 1974. He later moved to Sapele to stay with his brother, after his father’s demise. At Sapele, he engaged in menial jobs to support himself after secondary school.
He gained admission to the College of Education, Yola but could not enroll due to financial difficulties, but later enrolled in the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT).
In 2004, John shot to fame as the lead character in Mr. Ibu with his humorous acting; often characterized by stupidity, hilarious imbecility, and a sharp disconnection from reality. He has starred in over 200 movies and still gets featured in new movies.
Mr. Ibu is currently married to his second wife, Stella Marris. He and Stella Maris have three children but, unfortunately, lost his first son Emmanuel Okafor.
