The governor of Lagos State, his Excellency Governor Jide Sanwo-Olu has in an interview with CNN stated that men in Nigeria uniform opened fire at peaceful protesters in Lekki, even though the General Burutai has occasionally denied that fact.
In what seemed a drilling to me, the governor was on a hot seat with the whole world watching as he was asked straight forward questions. Questions that ordinarily, he may boycott but this is an international broadcast and he had to answer all questions to the best of his knowledge.
The questions he was asked were as though the interviewer was on ground the day the incident took place, the questions were right and targeted at getting the exact truth of the matter. It is an interview to witness, one you can watch and feel alright because you know he has no connections with CNN.
When asked about the Lekki toll gate shooting, the governor said that there has been videos all over the place and also there were cameras at the site where it all happened and that it has revealed that men in millitary uniform opened fire at the peaceful protesters.
The interviewer was not satisfied with the word ‘men in millitary uniform’ so she asked again, are you admitting that men of the Nigerian army opened fire at the peaceful protesters at the Lekki toll gate? Sanwo-Olu answered yes.
This single question has been trending on social media and has been the stronghold of the interview, especially as the general has been denying that the army were not even present at the venue, he said that the army did not open fire on protesters.
General Burutai has been disgraced once again, he said there was no army in the venue and that the army did not open fire in the peaceful Protesters, but video proved otherwise and now, the governor of Lagos State is saying otherwise.
To me, I think Sanwo-Olu may just be trying to play a clean game and come out alive. The whole situation is jarred up and the outcome may not be good for some of the puppets that are being used.
Two contradictory statements from two leaders, all loyal to the president of the federal republic of Nigeria, General Mohammadu Buhari rtd. Where do we go from here? Who do we believe?
The general is standing by his words,so also is the governor and he had made it known by speaking up at the CNN interview yesterday. Watch how he expressed himself abut the soldiers shooting at Lekki gate.
Recall that the governor had stated the following day after the incident that the cameras were not removed, he said that the footage from the camera would be used to bring those responsible to book.
