Little Nightmares 2 is now available and it’s a brilliant game from beginning to end despite sharing a few drawbacks with its predecessor. While the disturbing monsters are once again the main attraction at a superficial glance, it’s actually the story and relationship between Mono and Six which makes the sequel so memorable. And, because of the relationship, lots of people are asking: why did Six betray Mono? Here you’ll discover some theories for why Mono let Six fall at the end of Little Nightmares 2.
There was the ability to grab the first game for free on Steam before the launch of Tarsier Studio’s sequel, but – if you haven’t explored the haunting cruise ship – you should buy it now as it’ll help you better understand why Little Nightmares 2 is positioned as a prequel rather than a sequel. Not to mention it’s also a fantastic game that every horror fanatic should play, with special recommendation for the Secrets of the Maw DLC.
Regardless of whether you’ve played the original game and its Secrets of the Maw DLC, below you’ll find some Little Nightmares 2 theories in relation to why did Six betray Mono.
Did Six betray Mono in Little Nightmares 2?
Six did betray Mono in Little Nightmares 2 by letting him fall.
It’s clear that Six did betray Mono at the end of Little Nightmares 2 as she clearly holds onto his hand for a good while before deciding to let go.
Both characters are leaving the transmission until the bridge breaks. The yellow coated girl makes it to the other side, whereas her partner is left to performing a leap of faith.
Like other times in the game, she catches him by the wrist, and this would expectedly result in her picking him up as per the norm.
However, she instead decides to let go and this results in a puzzling and upsetting ending that nearly everyone is talking about.
Why did Six let Mono fall in Little Nightmares 2?
There’s no official reason why Six betrayed Mono in Little Nightmares 2 by letting him fall.
However, one theory is that Six let Mono fall and thus betrayed him in Little Nightmares 2 thanks to her chronic hunger.
This theory argues that she was hungry and simply let him drop so that she wouldn’t eat him. But, this theory is flawed as her chronic hunger pains cannot be heard unlike every other time.
Another theory is that Six let Mono fall because – without a bag over his head or a hat – she saw his resemblance to the Thin Man and thus saw the person that tortured her.
This theory is possible as she does look down on Mono while he’s dangling and trying to pick himself up, and there is a significance to him wearing a bag over his head.
It’s all just theories as of now, and there’s bountiful in the Little Nightmares community. These theories stem as far as suggesting that Six is also the Kimono lady at the end of the original game, but these are theories and nothing more right now.
