An elderly man accused of being a ritualist has been set ablaze in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo state.
According to reports, a person who has not been identified was killed and set on fire on Friday.
Two students from Bashorun Ojoo High School were accused of being turned into tubers of yam in front of the school by furious villagers from Ashi, Bodija and Akobo.
An investigation led to his arrest, according to reports, after it was discovered that students had been converted into tubers of Yams.
The residents’ efforts to persuade him to return were unsuccessful.
He was reportedly held up with ropes and interrogated, according to sources who claimed anonymity.
Because of his failure to give solid answers, the irate residents set him on fire.
The suspect’s body was later found discarded near the school’s perimeter gate.
A few minutes after the incident, the suspect’s remains were still lying in the same place when the school was visited.
Wothappen.com Correspondents received a video showing a man tied to a rope with two tubers of yam in front of him. Teachers at the school, on the other hand, declined to discuss the occurrence, making it unclear if he had in fact turned the children into tubers.
When I visited the neighborhood, no one seemed prepared to speak.
No response was received from Adewale Osifeso, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Oyo State Command, when Wothappen.com attempted to contact him via his mobile phone.
