In a way to curb the situation where people use children to beg in Lagos, the Lagos State Government has indicated anyone found guilty will be jailed.
The Lagos State government made this announcement adding that it has set up a special team that will tackle street beggars, miscreants, and street hawkers.
It was revealed that anyone caught using children to beg risked being jailed for 10 years under the Child’s Right Act.
This announcement was made known by the State Commissioner for Youths and Social Development, Mr. Segun Dawodu at a press conference at the Bagauda Kalto Press Centre, Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja.
Making the announcement, he stated that the exercise would commence in a few days’ time adding that the police would be involved in the operation.
Nigerians have reacted to this and here are some of the reactions;
