Roy Keane told Super Sunday on Sky Sports that he is hearing that Liverpool academy product Curtis Jones is a ‘pretty cocky kid’ who takes on instructions ‘pretty quickly’.
The 20-year-old was brought back into the Liverpool fold at the weekend, as Jurgen Klopp’s men slumped to a 4-1 defeat against Manchester City.
Even though a number of Liverpool players were questioned for their performance against the current leaders, Jones was one of the positives for the champions.
This is what Keane had to say about the rising Liverpool star, who has featured more regularly this season.
“Every time I have seen him in there, he looks comfortable,” said Keane. “He looks confident.
“From what I hear, he is a pretty cocky kid. He takes on instructions pretty quickly, which is a sign of a good player.
“And he’s at the club for a reason because Klopp likes him and trusts him – I like the look of him.”
It could be argued that Klopp made a mistake bringing Jones off against Man City because he was perhaps Liverpool’s best player.
The attack-minded midfielder is coming into his own this season and he will be hoping he can stay in the side ahead of the trip to Leicester this weekend.
Whilst Liverpool have now lost three games on the bounce at home, their away form hasn’t exactly set the world alight, so this will be a seriously tough test against a Brendan Rodgers team pushing for the Champions League places.
