DMX’s net worth at the time of his death was in the negative.

How did DMX lose all his money?
DMX was once a thriving musician and actor, producing seven studio albums and appearing in a number of big movies. So where did it all go wrong?
Well, his financial issues all started back in 2008 when it was revealed that he had fathered two children outside of his marriage to Tashera Simmons. He was then forced to pay $1.5 million to the mother of those two children, Monique Wayne.
In total, DMX was the father of 15 children which certainly put a strain on him financially, and he had to pay an extortionate amount in child support. In 2015, he was even sentenced to six months in jail for failing to pay $400,000 of child support.
Things got bad in 2013 when he declared bankruptcy and listed just $50,000 in assets and between $1 million and $10 million worth of debt.
In 2017, he was also sentenced to one year in jail after being charged with 14 counts of tax fraud, and at the time he was $2.3 million in debt.
Jay-Z paid off some of his debt
In the early 2000s, DMX was already in a lot of financial trouble, and fellow rapper Jay-Z came to his aid.
DMX released his first five albums with record label Def Jam but wanted to leave the label and sign to Columbia records in 2006.
Jay-Z helped him make the move by paying off his $12 million debt that he owed to Def Jam.
