Honestly, we have good schools (universities), competent lecturers and talented students in Nigerian education system. Nigerian schools have produced students who have made the country proud in various International competitions of different kinds. Even in the just concluded WAEC Examination, we saw results of Nigerian students who had straight A’s, thereby including them among the best in West Africa.
A major challenge which has adversely affected our education system for this year (2020) was the outbreak of Covid-19 under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari did everything he could do as the president to ensure that lives were saved and citizens were dwelling in safety during the outbreak of Covid-19. The federal government ensured that proper safety protocols were adhered to as schools were ordered to shutdown. This act of the government has taught us that, life remains more invaluable than education inasmuch as education is part of our lives.
However, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the resumption of all schools earlier before now, but, university students have been at home as a result of ASUU strike.
In this regard, only final year students of all Nigerian universities should note this.
It is prestigious to be in the final year, but it is more honourable to graduate after everything. Not all final year students end up graduating; most students keep rewriting their exams while their mates graduate. This is scary! But, to be forewarned is to be forearmed. Even while at home, take your studies very seriously to avoid stories when school resumes.
In summary, if you are in final year, don’t relax this time. There’s every possibility that exams might kick off once schools resume, therefore, It’s not yet late to start reading now. Start preparing for your final year exams, so that you will end up being the graduate you wish to become. I wish you all the best.
Should we allow only final year students to complete their exams this year or next year? Share your opinion.
