As at April 7th, 2020 three 400 level students of the University of Portharcourt were reported to be kidnapped. But recently, their dead bodies were found in Eleme.
The victims were Joy Adoki, Nelson Nwafor and Fortune Obemba (two boys and a girl). The brother to Joy Adoki filed a complaint at Eleme Police station on 19th April and it was this day that they were declared missing.
It was said that the kidnappers made contact with the family of those held hostage, demanding payment of ransome which they did.
Investigations were made which led to the arrest of Bright who was later known to be the master mind. Through Bright the main culprits, Friday Akpan and Emmanuel who were the ones that committed the heinous crime were arrested. The both reside at Eteo, Eleme.
Akpan confessed to the police that the bodies of their victims were buried in shallow Graves in Eleme. He further added that they shot two and one proved stubborn to die so they had to use the machete.
He led them to where they discovered the bodies on Friday by 6am.
The Rivers police spokesman Nnamdi Oboni has not answered calls to his cell phone or replied texts /SMS seeking his comment on this situation.
The arrested suspects confessed to taking part in various other kidnapping.
