Twitter has deleted President Muhammadu Buhari’s tweet threatening to deal with those fomenting trouble and compromising the security of the country in the ‘language they understand.’
Recall that Buhari had on Tuesday after a security briefing about the attacks on facilities of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in the South East, categorically threatened to deal with those who, according to him, want to destroy his government.
He had said such individuals or groups will receive the shock of their lives as they will be treated in a language they will understand.
The tweet reads; ”Many of those misbehaving today are too young to be aware of the destruction and loss of lives that occurred during the Nigerian Civil War. Those of us in the fields for 30 months, who went through the war, will treat them in the language they understand.”
Shortly after the tweet caused massive outrage amongst Nigerians, Twitter has taken it down and this was greet with a lot of reactions;
@Gerriane Kachigozirim: Twitter is a business owned by someone. If Twitter can decide to throw out Trump, what’s special about Buhari that Jack can’t take down his tweet. This is a great news, first week of a new month. June sounds promising.
@Nwodo Joachim: “Muhammadu Buhari is an agent of destabilisation, ethnic bigot and religious fanatic who, if given the chance, would ensure the disintegration of the country. His ethnocentrism would jeopardise Nigeria’s national unity.’” Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu 2003.
