UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson tests positive

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson, has tested positive for the novel coronavirus or COVID-19.

This was revealed in an announcement by Johnson himself via his official Twitter account on Friday, March 27.

The British politician explained that he took the test after he developed mild symptoms over the last 24 hours. Johnson went on to note that he is already self-isolating and will not step back from his duties as the prime minister for the time being.

According to the leader of the Conservative Party, he will continue to lead the government’s response via video-conference as the county continues to fight the virus.

In the video, Johnson thanked the NHS and everyone working to keep the UK going through the pandemic and restated the directive that staying at home is very important to curb the spread of the virus.

The report has taken the world by storm as the minister for the United Kingdom’s centre of power was least expected to be infected with the novel coronavirus.

It appears that the world still has a lot to do in order to put the COVID-19 pandemic under full control. Separately, the death toll in Spain has sharply risen as 769 people have died in 24 hours.
