We Are Now Determined To Crush Bandits After Their Proscription – Malami Brags

Abubakar Malami SAN, Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, has declared that the Federal Government’s desire to destroy banditry remains unwavering now that the Court has granted his Office’s plea to label bandit groups terrorist organizations.

Several organizations have urged the FG to declare bandits terrorists so that the fight can be brought to the bandits’ doorsteps.

In a statement signed by him, Dr. Umar Jibrilu Gwandu, Special Assistant on Media and Public Relations to the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, verified the news.

The statement was titled: FG Moves to Crush Banditry as Court Grants Malami’s Application to Declare Bandits Terrorists.

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, stated that the Federal Government’s desire to eradicate banditry remains steadfast now that the Court has granted his Office’s application designating bandit groups as terrorist organizations.

Dr. Umar Jibrilu Gwandu, Special Assistant on Media and Public Relations, Office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, confirmed this in a statement to journalists.

According to the statement, the declaration demonstrates the Attorney-General of the Federation’s office, as well as the Federal Government’s, willingness to act in line with the rule of law.

“This development demonstrates the Federal Government’s resolve to uphold international norms in the battle against terrorism, separatist organizations, insurgency, and banditry in the country,” he stated.

He said by this declaration the Federal Government of Nigeria has taken bold steps to deal ruthlessly with all terrorists groups and their sponsors in efforts to bring lasting solution to the myriad of insecurity challenges in the country.

The office of the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice in collaboration with relevant government agencies including security operatives are working assiduously to do the needful to take full advantage of this declaration.

The government will publish the proscription order in the gazette and make it widely known.
