This year’s Great British Bakeoff saw David Atherton win with a peach-colored picnic basket of cakes and enriched bread. Atherton, according to The Guardian, had a number of advantages in the tent, including his ability to remain calm and composed during the tense competitions. Season 10 was just a small part of the baker’s life story, he revealed. By way of the Guardian, Atherton said “I was dancing and singing along to my own music all the way through the video. In my demeanor, I’m calm and methodical, but I’m not shy.”
The fact that David Atherton was a reserve contestant, like Alice Fevronia, made his Bake Off victory all the more impressive. Atherton, on the other hand, was clearly the best baker in the business. According to him, he always finished baking ahead of the other contestants in many challenges (via Vulture.) That freed him up to do other things, like clean his workspace or bake cinnamon rolls for the team.

According to Vulture, David Atherton believes he is more of a chef than a baker. ‘After winning the show, what are you going to do next?’ he said “I know it’s crazy, but I want it all. I don’t see myself as a baker, but rather as a health care provider who is interested in food and how it relates to my current job.” In addition, he stated that he hopes to inspire young people to bake more and cook healthier.
Atherton has been spending a lot of time with his girlfriend in London since winning the show. Despite having faced criticism and bigotry in the past, the chef is proud to be gay and proudly wears his identity proudly on his sleeve (via The Advocate). In August 2020, he will publish a children’s cookbook titled My First Cook Book, which is based on his lifelong passion for baking. In addition, he provides his Instagram followers with useful advice on how to get the most out of cooking at home with fresh, nutrient-dense ingredients.
