Paul Manafort is not in jail as he was released from federal jail to home confinement early Wednesday morning owing to worries about coronavirus exposure according to his attorney Todd Blanche. And, there are no new reports of Paul getting sent back to prison.
Manafort, the former chairman of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, is 71 years old and was serving a seven-year term.
After being convicted of tax fraud, bank fraud, and conspiracy, he was sentenced to a low-security prison in Pennsylvania. The charges were presented as part of former special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian election intervention in 2016.
Two federal courts convicted him and sentenced him to jail. In 2018, a Virginia jury found him guilty on eight of the 18 counts of tax and bank fraud in his tax and bank fraud trial, all of which were linked to Manafort’s activities in Ukraine.

Paul Manafort’s health is now fine, however, he suffers from a cardiac issue.

Manafort was temporarily hospitalized due to a heart problem late last year. He has also suffered from a minor heart attack.
Due to his health condition, Manafort had written to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, requesting that he be freed to house arrest. He said that his health and age rendered him vulnerable to getting the lethal illness, which can spread swiftly in settings where social distance is difficult to create, such as jails.
