Elliot Page just did his first interview since coming out as transgender,and he mentioned his ex-wife. Who is Emma Portner?
In December 2020, Elliot page, formerly known as Ellen Page, posted a statement to his Instagram announcing that he was coming out as transgender.
Now, Elliott has sat down with Time magazine and opened up about life since coming out.
Some of the topics he discussed were his recent top surgery, what becoming transgender means for his acting career, and his relationship and recent divorce from ex-wife Emma Portner.

Who is Emma Portner?
Emma Portner is a professional dancer and choreographer.
The 26-year-old from Canada moved to New York aged 17 to pursue her dancing career and was named Young Choreographer Of The Year at the American Dance Awards.
Some of her career highlights include personally choreographing and starring in Justin Beiber’s Life Worth Living video and Purpose world tour and creating videos for Blood Orange, BANKS and Maggie Rogers.
Elliot Page and Emma Portner’s relationship and divorce explored
Elliot, who was then known as Ellen, met Emma in 2017 after reaching out to her on Instagram.
They instantly hit it off and posted a video collaboration online and attended a movie premiere together before getting married in January 2018 at a private ceremony.
The pair had a whirlwind relationship and were happily married for over three years before separating in summer 2020 and announcing their divorce in January 2021.
In a joint statement to PEOPLE, they said:
“After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce following our separation last summer. We have the utmost respect for each other and remain close friends.”
Elliot just revealed they are still friends
When Elliot came out as transgender in December 2020, Emma was hugely supportive.
Despite being separated at the time, she reposted his statement onto her own account with the caption: “I am so proud of @elliotpage. Trans, queer and non-binary people are a gift to this world.”
“I also ask for patience and privacy but that you join me in the fervent support of trans life every single day. Elliot’s existence is a gift in and of itself. Shine on sweet E. Love you so much,” she continued.
The following month, they then announced their divorce, but Elliot has just revealed in his Time interview that the pair are still friends.
“We’ve remained close friends,” he said before saying: “I had a lot of time on my own to really focus on things that I think, in so many ways, unconsciously, I was avoiding.”
