There are reports that an original XXXTentacion no anime series could be produced in the near future, but when could it release and what anime did he watch?
Over the past few years, more and more artists from the music industry are revealing that they are fans of anime, with several official music videos being a purely anime-style production.
However, we have never had an anime that either directly involves a musician within the production, or as a character within a series.
Recently, there have been rumours that an original XXXTentacion anime could be made, but how valid are these reports and which series did the late rapper enjoy?
WILL THERE BE AN XXXTENTACION ANIME?
- Whilst nothing has been officially confirmed, XXXTenaction’s mother has recently suggested that an anime series could be in the works.
Unfortunately, we were unable to locate the interview in question, but the news that an XXXTentacion anime series could be produced has been reported by both No Jumper on Twitter and Rap on Instagram.
It is also currently unclear what format such an anime series would take; whether it be an autobiographical series about the late rapper’s life and rise to superstardom, or a fantasy series with XXXTentacion as the lead character.
We will have to wait and see if more information on an XXXTentacion anime is revealed, but the possibility of a series has definitely excited a lot of fans already.
XXXTENTACION ANIME RELEASE DATE…
With no official confirmation that an anime series is even being produced, there is no information to suggest when it could release.
However, the production of an XXXTentacion anime would likely depend on the plot (autobiography vs original story) and which studio was producing said series.
If a series is ordered within the next six months and an average-sized animation studio takes the helm, the anime could theoretically premiere in early-2022.
WHAT ANIME DID XXXTENTACION LIKE?
If you followed XXXTentacion on Twitter or listened to his interviews, you likely knew that he was a massive fan of anime and regularly engaged with fans about certain series.
On January 23rd, 2016, the rapper would tweet a list of “great animes” which included Hunter x Hunter, One Piece, Blue Exorcist, Death Note, Sword Art Online, Naruto Shippuden and Parasyte.
When discussing the divisive ‘subbed vs dubbed’ question with a fan on Twitter, he would reply “f*** dubbed anime” and explain how watching One Piece subbed was the “greatest experience ever.”
At the time of writing, two of XXXTentacion’s singles, ‘Bad’ and ‘Sauce’, have released with anime music videos. However, have been countless references and artwork to the genre throughout his music career.
